Antimicrobial therapy is an essential part of sepsis management, focusing on timely recognition and resuscitation pathways(3). Antimicrobial stewardship aims to achieve optimal clinical outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and reduced consequences such as toxic effects, pathogen selection, and resistance(1). This article explores the role of antimicrobial stewardship in sepsis, emphasizing the importance of responsible prescribing practices to mitigate unintended consequences and improve patient outcomes.

Adherence to local guidelines, multidrug resistance risk assessment, optimized antimicrobial dosing, and integration of rapid diagnostic techniques can aid in achieving this goal(3).
