Radiopharmaceuticals are radioactive substances or radioactive drugs used for diagnostic or therapeutic interventions. Radiopharmaceuticals are medicinal formulations containing radioisotopes that are safe for human administration for diagnosis or therapy. The substances that have the same atomic number but different atomic weights are called isotopes. 

 Composition of Radiopharmaceuticals: 

 a radioactive isotope that can be injected safely into the body, and 

 a carrier molecule that delivers the isotope to the area to be treated or examined.
